Growing by Grace

WELS Devotion

You're Welcome Here

Worship Service is held at 10:30AM on Sunday.
Bible Class is held at 9:30AM on Sunday.

Bible class resumes on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Join us as we begin - What is worship and why do we do it? And why do we do certain things in church? In a four-part study, September 10th through October 1st.   Pastor Berg will walk through the concept of worship and explain why we do the things we do on Sunday morning. It might be surprising that the word “worship” is actually a bad word to describe biblical worship. We’ll start with the first church service – in the Garden of Eden – and then describe how worship is actually primarily God’s action towards us. We will also explain each part of the service (both in bible class and in the actual service on September 17th and 24th). In the end we will see that the classic divine service is not only pure gospel given to us but also a beautiful cultural artifact that Christians from every culture and every era share. We hope you will join us staring September 10th at 9:30 am.

Continuing Our Mission and Ministry

OUR MISSION - Our mission here at St. Philip’s Lutheran is outlined for us in Matthew 28:19: ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.’ Making disciples includes proclaiming God’s Word in its truth and purity, strengthening the faith of those under our care, and reaching out to the people of our community, (including our unchurched friends and relatives). Let us pray for and work together toward this goal.

OUR SYNOD - St. Philip’s Lutheran is a member of the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod.  As a member of the WELS, we support with our time, talents, offerings and prayers the mission of our Synod.

As men, women, and children united in faith and worship by the Word of God, the Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod exists to make disciples throughout the world for time and for eternity, using the Gospel in Word and Sacrament to win the lost for Christ and to nurture believers for lives of Christian service, all to the glory of God.

OUR BELIEFS -We believe and confess that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only source of all Christian doctrine and teaching.  We believe that the only true God is the Triune God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe that we are saved not by anything we have done, but through faith in Jesus Christ alone, who gave His life for our sins.  We believe that faith is a gift from God, which the Holy Spirit creates, sustains and strengthens through the Gospel in Word and Sacrament.
