Mr. Jason Schapekahm is our 8^th grade teacher.  He came to St. Philip’s in 2005. 
 

Mr. Schapekahm graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.  
 

Mr. Schapekahm has received numerous awards for his excellence.  He received the Spotlight on Scholarship: Distinguished Academic Achievement Award three times.  He also was awarded a scholarship by the New Ulm Area Foundation for Academic Excellence.  He was selected to the Academic all conference football team twice in college.  He received three scholarships in recognition of his academic excellence and graduated with distinction. 

Mr. Schapekahm has a quiet intensity about him that stirs something inside of his students.  Mr. Schapekahm integrates methods, process and critical thinking skills consistently throughout his daily lessons.  The growth of his students is remarkable and they enjoy his methods immensely.

 

When asked why he became a teacher he states that he had a number of excellent teachers in grade school and high school.  He aspired to be like them.  They were passionate about what they did and that sent a powerful message for him to try and emulate those characteristics in his own life.
